Mike Sheeks — Clarksville, TN
Things I made because nobody else was going to.
I'm a builder. Most of what I make starts as a problem that showed up more than once — a tool nobody had written, a website that wasn't pulling its weight, a story I wanted a classroom to hear. I live in Clarksville, Tennessee, and I keep at a thing until it works.
The book
Children's picture bookThe one thing here that has nothing to do with advertising.
Written by Michael Sheeks
Oscar and the Omniglass
A picture book for elementary readers about empathy, resilience, and the idea that everyone is carrying something you can't see from the outside.
I wrote it as a gift for my wife's classroom, and it turned into something much bigger. Kids are navigating a lot right now. I wanted a story that reminds them kindness and understanding land harder than they think.
Tools
Internal softwareInternal software for marketing teams — the people running campaigns day to day. Most of it exists because a workaround kept costing somebody an afternoon. Single-file front ends, small back ends, hosted cheap and shipped fast.
More to come.
Sites
Client workWebsites for local businesses around Clarksville, built through Clarksville Web Design. Usually hand-built in HTML and CSS first for speed and control, then rebuilt as editable WordPress templates in Elementor and Crocoblock so the owner can maintain them without calling me.
Higley Construction
Residential and commercial remodeler, voted Clarksville's best contractor. Split into separate residential and commercial paths so two very different buyers each get their own funnel to a free estimate.
Reda Home Builders
New construction in Clarksville. Built around a browsable floor plan library with Matterport walkthroughs, plus a relocation section aimed at people moving into the area who don't know the market yet.
Beachaven Auto Care & Towing
Two locations, nine service categories, and 24/7 towing — with dedicated pages for each surrounding town so the emergency searches land somewhere relevant instead of the homepage.
DCW Cabinetry
A one-man custom cabinet shop competing against big box stores. The whole site leans on the difference — build quality, a gallery, and a free 3D design as the offer instead of a generic quote form.
Lyndon's Salon & Spa
A rebuild for an established Aveda salon with two Clarksville locations. Nine service categories reorganized so someone booking a haircut and someone booking a massage each get there in one click.
How I work
Approach & stackI build the smallest thing that solves it. Most of these started as a single HTML file. If it survives a month of real use, it gets a real back end. If it doesn't, I've lost an afternoon instead of a quarter.
Cheap infrastructure is a feature. Shared hosting, a small PHP proxy, and a spreadsheet-shaped database will carry a surprising amount of weight. I'd rather spend the budget on the campaign than the stack.
The people using these know marketing, not code. They understand campaigns, budgets, and clients. They shouldn't have to think about which API the number came from or what format the export needs to be in — the tool carries that part.
